ReNUWIt’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program engages undergraduate students in ReNUWIt faculty’s research labs, under the mentorship of ReNUWIt post-docs and graduate students. Participants learn laboratory/field techniques, are immersed in ReNUWIt’s collaborative and interdisciplinary culture, and conduct meaningful research in state-of-the-art facilities. REU participants also interact directly with ReNUWIt faculty and peers, receive professional development training, and experience ReNUWIt’s systems-level approach to addressing the nation’s water issues. Additional program requirements include meetings, oral presentations, a short written report, and summary slides and/or posters.

Competitive stipend (~$4500; varies by campus) and travel allowance up to $600 will be provided. On-campus housing is also provided.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required by NSF)
  • Junior or senior as of Fall 2016, graduating no earlier than December 2016
  • Attend U.S. college or university; preference to students from primarily undergraduate institutions and non-ReNUWIt campuses
  • Students from diverse groups traditionally underrepresented in science and engineering programs are encouraged to apply.

Internship Duration: This is a 9 weeks internship programme, which runs from June-August (exact dates vary by campus).

Note: After matching applicants with projects, the applicants will be notified of the placements. If you are offered a position, the offer letter will include specific information on the campus, project, mentor, stipend, etc. You will have a chance to review this information before you decide whether or not to accept the offer.
