The University of Toronto is offering Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholars Program, 2018 to that studying Ukraine outside Ontario at the Centre for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CERES).


  • The applicants can be scholars of all stages of their careers working in the social sciences and humanities, including recent Ph.D. or kandydat nauk degree recipients.
  • The doctoral students can also apply.
  • Candidates applying for Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholars Program, 2018 whose work relates to "Challenges of Independent Ukraine"   (law and governance, education, state- and institution-building in Ukraine, and problems of democratization) are welcomed to apply.
  • Applicants must have solid knowledge of English.
  • Candidates are required to meet the requirements for entering Canada as set by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Documents required 

  • The candidates applying for Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholars Program, 2018 are expected to submit curriculum vitae.
  • Two reference letters should be submitted.
  • The applicants must submit a research proposal is not more than 2 pages and a cover letter with the proposed length of stay and the approximate starting date.

Scholarship credentials:

The recipients of Petro Jacyk Visiting Scholars Program, 2018 get CAD $1,200 for round-trip economy airfare, an allowance of CAD $55/full day i.e. a total of CAD$3,080 for 56 full days towards housing and living expenses, medical insurance, and visa costs.
