The South African Medical Research Council is offering research training internships to young black researchers to train and mentor them.

Eligibility

  • The candidates applying for MRC Research Training Internships, 2017 should be black (African, Colored, Indian, Asian) graduates with a four-year undergraduate or honors degree.
  • The applicants can be citizens or permanent residents of South Africa.
  • The candidates' mentor or co-mentor should be in an MRC lead program, unit, center, or group or an MRC funded researcher.

Selection Criteria
The applicants for MRC Research Training Internships, 2017 are selected on the basis of their academic record, research area, discipline, gender and suitable work plan.

Value of the internship

  • The recipients of MRC Research Training Internships, 2017 get funding up to 12 months and is renewed upon the satisfactory progress.
  • The research trainees for masters get funding for maximum two years and those who are registered for doctoral degree get funding for 3 years.
  • The funding will be granted for the fourth year on the motivation for Ph.D.
