About The Drug Policy Alliance:

The Drug Policy Alliance (DPA) is a New York City-based non-profit organization, led by executive director Ethan Nadelmann, with the principal goal of ending the American "War on Drugs". The stated priorities of the organization are the decriminalization of responsible drug use, the promotion of harm reduction and treatment in response to drug misuse, and the facilitation of open dialog about drugs between youth, parents, and educators.

Internship Opportunities:

Drug Policy Alliance is offering internship program for recent graduates as well as pursuing undergraduates or graduates. Interns must possess strong research, writing, and communication skills. Women, people of color and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to multi-task without constant supervision. Only those candidates under consideration will be contacted.

Qualifications:

  • Interns must possess strong research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to multi-task without constant supervision. Individuals with the desire and ability to work in a self-starter organization are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Interns should demonstrate interest in drug policy reform.
  • Some prior experience in policy research and administrative affairs is preferred but not necessary.

 

Deadlines/Available Positions

Fall 2015 Internship: September 7 – December 11, 2015 (14 weeks)

A minimum of 24 hours per week
July 8, 2015 is the deadline for applying
Spring 2016 Internship: January 4 – April 22, 2016 (16 weeks)

A minimum of 24 hours per week
November 11, 2015 is the deadline for applying
Summer 2016 Internship: May 23 - August 12, 2016 (12 weeks)

A minimum of 24 hours per week
March 16, 2016 is the deadline for applying
Fall 2016 Internship: September 5 – December 16, 2016 (15 weeks)

A minimum of 24 hours per week
July 13, 2016 is the deadline for applying
