Through the GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) internship program, The Nature Conservancy hires undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates (2014, 2015, and 2016) to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. Our mission is to provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and the real-world conservation work that contributes to the health and sustainability of our world. Eligibility:

Minimum Qualification: 

  • HS Diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or a recent graduate (within two years of graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program) for conservation/environmental studies, GIS or related field (geography, planning) or equivalent
  • Experience using MS office, Word, Excel, and navigating the Internet
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, spatial or tabular database management
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years related GIS experience or equivalent combination or education and experience
  • Familiarity with property surveys and legal descriptions.
  • Experience with coordinate geometry (calculating coordinate points from surveyed bearings, distances, and angles) and producing maps and/or other graphic products and reports. Experience with iPads (iOS), Android tablets, and recreational GPS units.
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience with iOS
