Summer Internships in Science and Technology (SIST) offers undergraduate sophomores and juniors majoring in Physics, Engineering (mechanical, electrical and computer), Materials Science, Mathematics and Computer Science the opportunity to conduct research with Fermilab scientists and engineers. Eligible students must be enrolled in four-year colleges and universities in the United States. SIST aims to grow representation of underrepresented groups (Black, Hispanic, Native American and women) in the scientific research and engineering workforce.

Paid Internship support includes:

  • Weekly student stipend
  • Local housing subsidy
  • Shared use of a rental car
  • Travel expenses to and from the airport for out-of-state interns
  • Local transportation assistance on an individual basis for in-state interns.

Eligibility: 

  • Undergraduate college students currently enrolled in four-year U.S. colleges or universities
  • Member of underrepresented group (Black, Hispanic, Native American and women)
  • Students majoring in Physics, Engineering (mechanical, electrical and computer), Materials Science, Mathematics and Computer Science
  • Participants must provide evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Internship Duration: Internship programme dates are May 31 – August 19, 2016.
