The California Institute of Technology provides Caltech's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) Program, 2017 to introduce students to research under the guidance of research mentors at Caltech and JPL.

Eligibility

  • The applicants for Caltech's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) Program, 2017 can be Caltech or Non-Caltech students.
  • The candidates who are under any academic or disciplinary sanction are not eligible.

Eligibility for Caltech Students

  • The candidates should be current undergraduate students.
  • The applicants should have CGPA of at least 2.0 and should complete the third term at Caltech or any other school under the program approved by the Dean.
  • The candidates should be eligible for the fall term registration no later than July 1st and before the beginning of their SURF project.

Eligibility for Non-Caltech Students

  • The applicants should be current undergraduate students and eligible for the fall term registration.
  • The candidates should have CGPA of at least 2.5/4.0.
  • The applicants should complete their third quarter or second semester at their college or university.

Documents required

  • The applicants for Caltech's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) Program, 2017 should submit an online application and two recommendation letters (at least one from a faculty member) for Caltech students and three for non-Caltech students from the faculty members (at least two in the relevant discipline)
  • The candidates should also submit the research project proposal.
  • The applicants who are non-Caltech students should also submit an unofficial transcript.
