The Center for American Archaeology (CAA), Kampsville, IL, is inviting applications for Women in Archaeology Internship positions. This internship is for women undergraduates, graduate students, and archaeologists in the early stages of their careers with at least six weeks of field and laboratory experience. Individuals interested in public archaeology, museum education, and other closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be team players with a strong work ethic, communication skills, and a passion for archaeology and engaging students and the public.

Successful candidates of CAA Women In Archeology Internship, 2017 will receive a $2000 stipend, room, and board for the 10-week program. Interns will also be provided with $500 to attend the 2017 Midwest Archaeological Conference.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants of CAA Women In Archeology Internship, 2017  must belong to one of the following categories:
    • an advanced undergraduate (junior or senior standing),
    • a graduate student (including those beginning graduate school in the 2017-18 academic year),
    • or in the early stages of their career (B.A. within the past four years).
  • Applicants are required to have a minimum of six weeks of archeological field and laboratory experience is required.
  • The age of the applicants must be at least 21 years by the start of the program.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

The applicants of CAA Women In Archeology Internship, 2017 must submit the following documents before the deadline:

  • Application form
  • Cover letter/statement of interest describing why they'd like to take part in the internship, career goals, how this program will be beneficial to them and how their program will benefit the program.
  • CV
  • Unofficial transcripts from all colleges and universities they attended
  • One letter of recommendation
