The Bridging Scholarships, 2018 are offered to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan.
Theses scholarships accept applications twice a year.


  • The applicants for Bridging Scholarships, 2018 should be citizens of the US.
  • The candidates should be enrolled in the US colleges or universities before and the time of studying abroad.
  • The applicants should be undergraduate students majoring in any field.
  • The candidates should study Japan for at least 3 months and should credit that will be transferred to their home campus in the US.

Documents required

  • The candidates should submit an official transcript from their university and a recommendation letter.
  • The applicants should also submit an essay introducing themselves, explaining their interest in study in Japan, and what the hope to achieve in a study abroad program in 500 words max (three copies).

Value of the scholarship
The recipients of Bridging Scholarships, 2018 get a stipend of $2,500 for semester-long programs and $4,000 for year-long programs.
