The American Association Of University Women offers International fellowships to women who are not citizens or permanent residents of the US to pursue graduate and postgraduate studies at accredited U.S. institutions.

Eligibility

  • The candidates applying for American Association For University Women - International Fellowships, 2017 should be citizens of any country other than the US.
  • The applicants (women) holding dual citizenship in the US and another country are not eligible.
  • The candidates should have a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree (earned in the US or outside) by September 30, 2016.
  • The applicants should have English language proficiency.
  • The Master’s/first professional degree and doctoral applicants should apply to an accredited institution for the fellowship duration by December 1, 2016, and should indicate the institution's name in the application.
  • The Master’s/first professional degree fellowships are offered to applicants with degrees such as J.D., M.F.A., L.L.M., M.Arch or medical degrees such as M.D., D.D.S, and the doctoral fellowships are offered to applicants with degrees Ph.D. or Ed.D.
  • The postdoctoral applicants should provide doctorate degree proof and should have a doctorate classified as a research degree or an M.F.A. by December 1, 2016.

Selection Criteria

  • The candidates applying for American Association For University Women - International Fellowships, 2017 are assessed based on their TOEFL score, academic and professional qualifications, and their commitment to the advancement of women and girls in the home country.
  • The applicants will also be evaluated on the basis of the quality of the research proposal, and its feasibility and proof of community and/or civic service in the home country.

Documents required

  • The applicants for American Association For University Women - International Fellowships, 2017 should submit academic transcripts and a curriculum vitae.
  • The candidates should also submit the budget of the proposed research and three recommendation letters.

Value of the fellowship
The Master’s/first professional degree candidates get $18,000, doctoral candidates get $20,000, and postdoctoral get $30,000.
