This research will demonstrate soil fertility and salinity mapping and change trend analysis southern California-Baja Mexico region based on the development of relevant salinity mapping approaches despite the challenges and difficulty although more field data and good quality satellite imagery containing both are needed for wider validation and improvement of the map. Geographical Information System (GIS) is a technology that provides the means to collect and use geographic data to assist in the development of Agriculture. A digital map is generally of much greater value than the same map printed on a paper as the digital version can be combined with other sources of data for analyzing information with a geographical presentation. The GIS Page 7/43 software makes it possible to synthesize large amounts of different data, combining different layers of information to manage and retrieve the data in a more useful manner. GIS provides a powerful means for agricultural scientists to better service to the farmers community in answering their query and helping in a better decision making to implement planning activities for development of agriculture. This research study refer to the effective role that can be played by GIS, especially in the spatial distribution mapping using interpolation technique for producing thematic maps of macro and micronutrients in the soils. Spatial distribution maps generated under the study will be useful for guiding the farmers to decide the amount and kind of nutrients to be applied for economic returns based on site specific nutrient management. It will also useful for achieving the optimum crop yields. Geo-statistical analysis estimates an average status of macro and micronutrients in the target study area. Both the spatial distribution maps and geo-statistical analysis reflect on spatial variability of macro and micronutrients in the soils is more beneficial for the recommendations of nutrients based on the status of deficiency or based on the requirements of the crops and soil characteristics of southern California-Baja Mexico region.
