About this course

Students applying to this program have varied backgrounds. Some hold professional degrees (i.e., DVM, MD or DDS) while others apply after completion of an undergraduate degree. Students without a professional degree are admitted if they have exceptionally strong interests and backgrounds in basic biomedical sciences. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Integrative Pathobiology faculty with whom they would like to study. A commitment of sponsorship from a faculty member, in the form of a sponsorship letter included in the application, is encouraged but not required.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A bachelor’s degree or Master's degree from an accredited institution. International applicants must meet an equivalent minimal level of study. 
  • 550 on the TOEFL paper-based test (PBT) or 80 on the TOEFL internet-based test (iBT) is the minimum eligibility for admission
  • IELTS score of 7 is minimum eligibility for admission.

How to Apply

Transcripts
UC Davis requires academic records from each college-level institution you have attended. You will be instructed to upload scanned copies of your transcripts after you have submitted your online application. 


Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
It is highly recommended that applicants take the General GRE no later than December. 


Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required to complete the application for admission. Letters may be from professors, employers or others who have knowledge of the applicant's academic qualifications or personal characteristics.  All Recommendation Letters MUST be submitted electronically via the UC Davis Application system.

TOEFL Scores

The minimum scores required for admission to graduate study at UC Davis are:

550 on the TOEFL paper-based test (PBT), or
80 on the TOEFL internet-based test (iBT)
TOEFL scores expire after two years. Scores that are older than two years will not be accepted by UC Davis.
