Eligibility Criteria

Admission Requirement

  • Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering / Engineering / Physical Sciences, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or tertiary institution.

English Requirements

All in-class lectures and materials are in English. Evidence of English ability is not required from applicants graduated from a university where English is the medium of teaching (includes all universities in Hong Kong and most universities from North America, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand etc). Applicants from Universities where English is not the medium of instruction, please provide an English proficiency proof in the application. Some recommended scores are as follows:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Paper-based test (PBT) score ≥ 550, Internet-based test (iBT) score ≥ 80, OR 
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall score ≥ 6.0, all sub-scores ≥ 5.5

Graduation requirements: 

  • A student must complete the program with a graduation grade average (GGA) of 2.850 or above as required of all postgraduate students at the University.

Subject to prior approval of the Program Director, students may take a maximum of 9 credits of coursework offered by other self-financing MSc programs, including:

  • A maximum of 9 credits of EESM courses offered by the MSc program in Electronic Engineering, and the MSc program in IC Design Engineering, or
  • A maximum of 3 credits of non-EESM courses.

The availability of courses offered by other self-financing MSc programs may be subject to quota limitations imposed by individual programs.

Please complete an online application form, pay the application fee (HK$300), and upload the below documents to the online application system by the application deadline:

  • Transcript
  • Degree Certificate(s), if graduated
  • For applicants graduated from University in Mainland China, please upload both Degree Certificate and Graduation Certificate.
  • English proficiency proof / certificate (i.e. IELTS / TOEFL / Medium of Instruction) (if applicable)
  • GRE and GMAT scores are not required. Fresh graduates may provide information on work experience and professional qualification if they are available. Applicants may also upload other information not listed above but helpful to the admission committee to make the best decision.
  • In the application stage, official copies of the application materials are NOT required to be mailed to the program office/university (except for English proficiency proof/certificate which is going to expire very soon before July 1 (for the Fall intake applying for) and Jan 1 (for the Spring intake applying for)). Applicants will be informed how to send the official document when they are offered admission into the program.
