About this course

Students will study modules in the pathophysiology and neuroimaging relating to cerebrovascular disease; clinical manifestations of stroke; treatment and service delivery; neurorehabilitation; epidemiology and prevention of stroke and statistical methods in health research.

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.

The programme consists of six core modules (120 credits), and a research project/dissertation (60 credits).

A Postgraduate Diploma, six core modules (120 credits) is available.

A Postgraduate Certificate, four core modules (60 credits) is available.

Eligibility Criteria

Entry Requirement

A minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject e.g. medicine, psychology, speech and language therapy, biological or biomedical sciences, or a related degree, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.

English Language Requirements

All students whose first language is not English must be able to provide recent evidence that their spoken and written command of the English language is adequate for the programmes for which they have applied.

This requirement is specified in order to ensure that the academic progress of students is not hindered by language difficulties and that students are able to integrate socially while studying at UCL and living in the UK.

Dissertation/report
All students undertake an independent research project which culminates in a dissertation of 10,000 words.

Teaching and Learning
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, workshops/practical sessions, journal clubs, presentations, supervisory meetings, journal clubs, presentations and posters. Taught modules are assessed by short-answer multiple choice question examinations and timed essays. The research project requires a written dissertation, oral and a poster presentation at the Queen Square Symposium or conference.
