The Research Master’s in Communication Science is a two-year MSc degree programme for students who would like to be at the forefront of the newest developments in understanding the role of communication and media in society.

Eligibility Criteria

If you don’t fit the profile entirely, you are still welcome to apply. When you have the right undergraduate qualifications (academic level and background) but a lack of knowledge and experience in the required areas, it is plausible you will be conditionally admitted based on completing a pre-Master's programme or intensive introductory course first. The admissions board will evaluate every applicant individually based on:

  • Bachelor’s curriculum and courses attended
  • English language proficiency

Course Modules

The English language curriculum of the Research Master’s in Communication Science is 120 ECTS in total and comprises six elements, namely:

  • Substantive courses (42 ECTS)
    • 30 ECTS of the substantive course element can be chosen from our four domains:
      • Corporate Communication
      • Persuasive Communication
      • Political Communication
      • Entertainment Communication
    • 12 ECTS is dedicated to the course ‘Advancing and Building Communication Science Theory’.
  • Core methodological course element (36 ECTS)
  • ASCoR Research Participation (6 ECTS)
  • Elective methodological course element (18 Ects)
  • May include Research internship (12 ECTS)
  • Thesis Seminar (18 ECTS)
