About this course

The Master of Science in Applied Gerontology programme provides a holistic and advanced education in the rapidly expanding field of gerontology. It is designed for students preparing for a career in ageing-related fields or professionals who are working in ageing services settings.

This graduate programme offers an interdisciplinary Asia focused curriculum. While the core curriculum focuses on the foundations of gerontology shared by many disciplines, the concentration courses and electives allow students to pursue learning experience complementing their individual professional interests.

Eligibility Criteria

Admissions Criteria

  • Applicants should possess a good bachelor’s degree and preferably with 2 years of work experience. International applicants whose medium of instruction was not in English at the tertiary level should have an IELTs score of 7.0 and TOEFL internet based score of 100 (600 for paper based) 
  • Although no prior course work or training in gerontology is required, professionals with a passion or work experience in human services or ageing related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.

Course Modules

The programme is made up of 10 courses, inclusive of 4 courses in the common core, 2 courses in the concentration core, and 4 elective courses. Each course requires 35–40 hours of instruction and carries 3 academic units (AU).
