About this course
The Master (MSc) Accountancy & Control programme of the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) has a strong international emphasis. The programme is designed to prepare students for financial positions, not only in auditing and consultancy, but also in industry, banking or government. The programme consists of an Accountancy track and a Control track.
The Accountancy track in the Accountancy and Control Master’s programme is for those who seek a career in a financial function, as an auditor, but also as a financial professional in the business world or in not-for-profit organisations.

Course Modules
First semester
The year begins with two core courses on topics that are of crucial importance to any accounting professional:
In period 2 students follow one track-specific course, Financial Accounting Research, and one common course on Sustainability, Accountability & Ethics.
During both period 1 and period 2 students also participate in a Research Seminar that prepares you for writing your Master’s thesis in the second semester.
In period 3 students follow a course on Accounting Information Systems. This course provides them with hands-on experience in using an SAP Enterprise Research Management System.
For interested students, UvA has an agreement with SAP that allows students use the knowledge acquired in this course to obtain an official SAP certificate at significant discount.
