About this course

Students in the Electrical Plan may choose to specialise in the field of Biomedical, Microwave Telecommunications or Power Systems or select courses across a broader spectrum. Biomedical Engineering focuses on the development of instrumentation used in medical diagnosis, imaging and treatment. Microwave telecommunications provides students with skills for the design and manufacture of RF/Microwave communications systems, including wireless and optical technologies. Power Systems focuses on power system stability and reliability, deregulation, condition monitoring, sustainability, renewable energy and future trends. Relevant prior study in the bachelor degree is required for entry to some specialisations. The program extends graduate career opportunities in the public and private sector, nationally and internationally, according to the speciality or courses studied.


Master of Engineering graduates have acquired experience that enables them to cross disciplinary boundaries, and are equipped to take on advanced engineering work. They will have a combination of business, problem solving and interpersonal skills; as well as technical engineering experience that will enable them to understand markets and develop relationships of trust with customers, suppliers, business partners, and to work within teams.

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related field OR Graduate Diploma in Engineering.

 For International students:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related field OR Graduate Diploma in Engineering.
  • IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6.Study Abroad and Incoming Exchange students are only required to meet the overall score (eg 6.5 IELTS or 87 TOEFL or 64 PTE( Pearson Test of English )).
  • TOEFL (Paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language): 570 (5.0 in TWE (written), and 54 in reading & listening)

English language requirement:
