About this course

As Equine Science graduates, students will have an advanced understanding of the application of scientific principles to the study of equine science. Students will have the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context. The completion of a research project will provide students with skills in the use of effective and modern methods for describing and analysing scientific data, as well as enhance their ability to interpret and communicate scientific results and information. Students will gain sufficient understanding of equine science and will be required to undertake independent research as part of the program. This will enable students to develop the knowledge and skills to undertake further study in a research Masters or PhD, if students wish. Graduates will have the skills required for employment in a diverse range of areas of the global equine industry.

The program has been designed to develop core research and leadership skills, scientific knowledge of equine science but with the flexibility to allow students to select electives from other programs. Course materials will include web based resources and students will have the opportunity to utilize the extensive equine resources on the Gatton campus and visit commercial enterprises. Students will also complete a significant research project in an equine science specialisation.
