About this course

The specialisation Comparative Literature focuses on the analysis and interpretation of cultural ‘texts’ within an broad, interdisciplinary theoretical and cross-cultural framework. Students are trained to closely analyse a variety of cultural objects, Western and non-Western, within a globalized cultural context.

  • The Master’s in Comparative Cultural Analysis - Art and Culture is open for application to all students with a:
    • Bachelor’s diploma in the languages from the UvA or another Dutch university;
    • Bachelor's diploma in Literary Studies;
    • recognised equivalent from another accredited university in the language he/she wishes to specialise in with a focus on literature.
  • English language requirements: New Master's students should be able to speak, read, write and understand English at advanced academic level.
  • Application documents: To apply for this Master's programme students need to upload all of the application documents.
