About this course

Starting in August 2008, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Maritime Studies with Business Major is offered jointly by the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Nanyang Business School. These programmes are targeted for suitable candidates with GCE A-levels, IB, and diploma holders who have relevant qualifications.

The programme focuses primarily on tertiary education in shipping, business, management, and maritime science and technology, to build up the expertise of the local shipping industry

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants with qualifications as deemed fit by the university (based on their online application) may be required to sit for an NTU Entrance Examination before a final decision on admission can be made. 

Prerequisites for this course include: Additional Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Science at Junior High School Level / Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry/Biology at IB Standard Level

  • BF3211 Commodities Trading and Risk Management
  • BF2301 International Tax and Trading Law
  • MS4670 Commodities' Geology and Metallurgy 

Apart from that the standard course curriculum of Marine Studies with the exemption of a few unrestricted electives must be completed for graduation
