About this course

The environment is an integrated and interactive system that encompasses a complex array of physical, biological and chemical components and processes. Environmental science is a multi-disciplinary subject that aims to understand the functioning and interrelationship of these components and processes. Rapid economic and urban development has been threatening the capacity of the environment to sustain the human population. Environmental Science provides the essential knowledge to resolve the problems.

The Environmental Science (ENVS) undergraduate (UG) program provides students with solid training in the relevant areas of study with a special focus on ecosystems. The program offers a flexible and multidisciplinary curriculum for students to meet their study and career goals.

Career Prospects:

The ENVS program equips students to thrive in government agencies (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Environmental Protection Department), environmental consultancies (environmental impact assessments, natural resource management), environmental laboratories, environmental related NGOs, public education (teachers, conservation groups, ecotourism) and academic research.

Eligibility Criteria

Academic requirements

  • SAT/AP, GCEAL/IAL, IB or other qualifications.
  • American Patterned System (SAT/AP): SAT Reasoning Test with a minimum combined score of 1800 or above (in one sitting) or ACT plus Writing with a minimum composite score of 27 or above (in one sitting), and with three SAT Subject Tests, each with a minimum score of 600 or with Advanced Placement in three subjects, each with a minimum score of 3
  • Note: For students using New SAT, please consult the concordance tables provided by the College Board which show the equivalent score on the old SAT for a score on the new SAT
  • British Patterned System (GCEAL/IAL): At least 3 Passes in AL subjects
  • International Baccalaureate (IB): Completion of IB Diploma
