About this course

The Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies (Year in Asia) lets students establish themselves as future leaders in the Asian Century. They combine study at ANU with one year at a university in an Asian location like Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul or Bangkok.

The Year in Asia will builds on the strengths of their three-year Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies degree. Graduates develop an advanced level of language proficiency and an exceptional capacity to understand the societies and cultures of Asian regions. They study with world-class teachers at ANU and then put their learning into practice on the ground in Asia.

  • Domestic applicants
    • ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) : 90 / 80
    • QLD Band: 6 / 10
    • International Baccalaureate: 33 / 28
  • International applicants
    • Applicants with international qualifications should refer to the latest International undergraduate admissions table for a guide to program entry scores.
  • For Indian Applicants the following eligibility criteria apply:
    • AISSC: A minimum cumulative score of 16.5 (for B. International Security Studies, 13 for B.Lang, B. Asia studies, B. Arts) in their best 4 subjects where the score is calculated by the given metric: A1=5; A2=4.5; B1=3.5; B2=3; C1=2; C2=1.5; D1=1; D2=0.5
    • ISC: The minimum average of the externally examined subjets must be 92% (for B. International Security Studies, 83% for B.Lang, B. Asia studies, B. Arts)

Course Modules

The Bachelor of Asia-Pacific Studies requires the completion of 192 units, of which:

  • A maximum of 60 units may come from completion of 1000-level courses
  • A minimum of 132 units must come from the completion of 2000-level, 3000-level and 4000-level courses.

The 192 units must include:

  • 144 units from courses required for the completion of one of the following degrees:
    • Bachelor of Asian Studies
    • Bachelor of Languages
    • Bachelor of International Security Studies
    • Bachelor of Arts
  • 48 units from the successful completion of the Year in Asia major
