About this course

This dual degree program allows students to combine studies in law with a wide range of majors in the arts. The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB(Hons)) degree is like a passport to exceptional success in the employment market: as a barrister or solicitor in private practice, as a prosecutor of crime, as a community lawyer, as a legal officer in the public service, as in-house counsel for a large corporation, or, when combined with another degree in any one of a wide range of positions in areas such as foreign affairs, industrial relations, management, or politics. Students will gain a thorough understanding of the concepts, principles, policies and values of the law both in Australia and other jurisdictions. It will also see students develop outstanding skills in critical analysis, thought and argument, skills which will be valuable in whatever career students eventually choose.BA studies will provide students with highly developed skills in written communication, problem-solving, critical thinking and interpersonal understanding.

Political Science includes studies of political structures, processes and policies in Australia as well as other societies, the contemporary ideas, ideologies and theories that determine the framework for political decision-making, and the organisational and diplomatic approaches to cooperation and conflict resolution in the international system. Studies in political science provide students with detailed knowledge of the discipline's sub-strands and how they may be integrated into a broader understanding of key political processes.
