About this course

The Bachelor of Accounting provides comprehensive preparation for a career in accounting. In this program you will undertake a sequence of courses that meets tertiary education requirements for direct entry into the professional streams of all  accounting bodies in Australia. Some of the roles available to a qualified accountant are: business risk analyst, financial officer, auditor, tax accountant, budget or management accountant, consultant and systems accountant.

Accounting graduates from ANU have secured roles in large accounting firms, government departments, banking and finance organisations, and large corporations.

    • ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) : 86
    • QLD Band: 8
    • International Baccalaureate: 31
  • International applicants
    • Applicants with international qualifications should refer to the latest International undergraduate admissions table for a guide to program entry scores.
  • For Indian Applicants the following eligibility criteria apply:
    • AISSC: A minimum cumulative score of 15 in their best 4 subjects where the score is calculated by the given metric: A1=5; A2=4.5; B1=3.5; B2=3; C1=2; C2=1.5; D1=1; D2=0.5
    • ISC: The minimum average of the externally examined subjets must be 88%

 

  • Furthermore assumed knowledge (not a prerequisite) for this course includes mathematical knowledge equivalent to an ACT Maths Methods Tertiary major, or NSW HSC Maths (two unit) including the study of calculus and algebra

Course Modules

The Bachelor of Accounting requires completion of 144 units, of which: (a maximum of 60 units may come from completion of 1000-level courses), the 144 units must include:

  • 24 units from completion of minor in Business and Economics Essentials
  • 36 units from completion of the following compulsory courses:
    • BUSN1002 Accounting Processes and Systems
    • BUSN1101 Introduction to Commercial Law
    • FINM1001 Foundations of Finance
    • BUSN2011 Management Accounting
    • BUSN2015 Company Accounting
    • BUSN3001 Accounting Theory
  • 12 units from completion of courses from the following list:
    • BUSN2101 Law of Business Entities
    • BUSN2036 Financial Statement Analysis
    • INFS2005 Accounting Information Systems
  •  18 units from completion of courses from the following list:
    • BUSN3002 Auditing
    • BUSN3003 Advanced Management Accounting
    • BUSN3006 Public Sector Accounting
    • BUSN3008 Financial Reporting by Corporations
    • BUSN3014 Principles of Tax Law
    • BUSN3017 Corporate Social Responsibility, Accountability and Reporting
  • 6 units from completion of courses on List 1 of the ANU College of Business and Economics
  • 48 units from completion of elective courses offered by ANU
